Read on to find out more and avoid putting yourself in hot water when using your e-cig across the globe.<\/span><\/i><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many of us take it for granted that we can vape with almost entire freedom here in the UK. Apart from restrictions on where you might vape, such as in some <\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2015\/06\/10\/e-cigarettes-have-now-been-banned-from-british-trains-and-stations-5238943\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">public places or on public transport<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we can vape away to our heart&#8217;s content without a care in the world. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&#8217;s not the same everywhere, though, with vaping completely banned in some countries. This includes places favoured by many British people for holiday getaways. Taking out your <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrictobacconist.co.uk\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e-cigarette<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> there could land you in a world of trouble and even in jail.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What are the authorities in these countries so afraid of? Here in the UK, our medical organisations have <\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cancerresearchuk.org\/about-us\/cancer-news\/press-release\/2017-02-06-e-cigarettes-safer-than-smoking-says-long-term-study\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">issued reports<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> saying vaping is a whole lot better for you than smoking and can help people to get off cigarettes for good. That&#8217;s definitely great health news, given that tobacco kills around <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/patient.info\/health\/quit-smoking-cessation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>100,000 people<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Britain each year. But, meanwhile, many vaping-banning countries of the world are places where the <\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/mediacentre\/factsheets\/fs339\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">largest numbers of smokers are found<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1437\" src=\"https:\/\/www.electrictobacconist.co.uk\/image-factory\/9202439fed96a87d541edb1699269f3e22b80263~467x700@2x\/images\/products\/604QBcK39JRKtcBWfXx524e7DO0uMXRvjTVuAqg1.jpg\" alt=\"Man with beard vaping outdoor in sunglasses\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<h2><b>Outdated Vaping Guidelines?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It turns out that countries that have banned vaping and, in some cases, imposed sentences for those who do vape are mostly relying on <\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/nmh\/events\/2014\/backgrounder-e-cigarettes\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a 2014 report<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the World Health Organisation about the use of e-cigarettes. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It found that there was &#8220;was insufficient evidence to conclude that e-cigarettes help users quit smoking or not. Therefore, WHO currently recommends that smokers should first be encouraged to quit smoking and nicotine addiction by using a combination of already-approved treatments&#8221;. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In light of recent UK studies into vaping, especially by the Royal College of Physicians, the WHO advisory now seems outdated and incorrect. The College <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcplondon.ac.uk\/news\/promote-e-cigarettes-widely-substitute-smoking-says-new-rcp-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">concluded<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that &#8220;e-cigarettes are likely to be beneficial to UK public health. Smokers can therefore be reassured and encouraged to use them, and the public can be reassured that e-cigarettes are much safer than smoking&#8221; \u2014 and that vaping should be promoted as a way for people to stop smoking. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<h2><b>Jail Time for Using an E-Cigarette<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It may seem harsh, if not absurd, but in some countries you can be given a prison sentence if you&#8217;re caught vaping. We&#8217;re not even just talking about some draconian nation somewhere far off the beaten path that no-one would ever dream of going to anyway. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">British long-haul destination of choice Thailand is right up there with the countries of the world that will willingly fine or jail their own people and visitors if they&#8217;re seen using an e-cigarette. It&#8217;s not just a few days or months in the slammer either, but an <\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/travel\/news\/tourists-face-prison-vaping-Thailand-ecigarettes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">almighty 10 years in prison<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the criminal act of vaping. Vapers among the <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/foreign-travel-advice\/thailand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">million or so Brits who fly to various parts of Thailand each year<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will need to bear this in mind, or they may find themselves doing a long stretch of time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Thai measures include bans on bringing your own e-cigarette and e-liquid into the country, as well as buying them there. A British travel agent recently <\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.travelweekly.co.uk\/articles\/285414\/thai-ban-on-e-cigarettes-could-lead-to-10-year-jail-term\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> she was unaware of the ban and potential fines and jail terms in Thailand until her nephew was arrested in Bangkok for using an e-cigarette. She said he had been told by a policeman he could go to jail but instead he paid a fine equivalent to \u00a3125.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you&#8217;re planning a trip abroad and either taking your e-cigarette and e-liquid with you or hoping to buy them there, <\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecigarette-politics.com\/electronic-cigarettes-global-legal-status.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">read up about countries&#8217; laws<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> regarding these before you go.
