The distinctions between the products that we love, the contents and health effects of e-liquids as compared to traditional smoking, and e-cigarettes\u2019 relationship to quitting smoking are all topics that are misconstrued by some. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can be difficult to decipher what is right and what is wrong when it comes to the media coverage of vaping. So, in this blog post, we\u2019re going to debunk three of the most common mainstream misconceptions associated with e-cigarettes and e-liquids.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>\u201cVape Mods\u201d are commonly mistakenly referred to as \u201cE-Cigarettes\u201d<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the most common mainstream misconceptions about vaping refers to the actual, physical e-cigarette and vaping products themselves. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When hearing the word \u201ce-cigarette\u201d, most people might think of the initial vaping products that looked like regular physical cigarettes, which were made by tobacco companies such as <\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2014-07-15\/imperial-tobacco-ceo-cooper-adds-blu-to-take-e-cigarette-leap.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Imperial Tobacco<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and&nbsp;<\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/rjrvapor.com\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RJ Reynolds<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Well, as we know, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrictobacconist.co.uk\/blog\/category\/all-about-e-cigs\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>e-cigarette products have evolved<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and are very different to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrictobacconist.co.uk\/blog\/2017\/10\/kangertech-vs-aspire-vape-the-newest-mini-mods-on-the-market\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">vape mods<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 the other most popular kind of vaping kit. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1443\" src=\"https:\/\/www.electrictobacconist.co.uk\/image-factory\/9202439fed96a87d541edb1699269f3e22b80263~467x700@2x\/images\/products\/PQheDjzjCzZpRoZBqM1wWj2jXvCybgAaxFvINWHU.jpg\" alt=\"No smoking electronic cigarette in the office\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This confusion about the physical forms of vaping equipment has contributed to a general lack of public understanding about the ways in which vaping works and the different products available to vapers, much to the chagrin of the community. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>E-liquid vapour is much safer than cigarette smoke<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your average member of the public has probably heard two mass generalisations about the e-liquid vapor produced by e-cigarettes: that it\u2019s perfectly harmless, or that it is worse than cigarettes and toxic waste combined. More than anything else, we have all probably have heard the statement that \u201cthere haven\u2019t been enough studies done\u201d again and again. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well, in fact, there <\/span><b>has <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">been an awful lot of research carried out on this topic. Notably, a <\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/tobaccocontrol.bmj.com\/content\/early\/2013\/03\/05\/tobaccocontrol-2012-050859.short\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2012 research paper<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> entitled <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Levels of Selected Carcinogens and Toxicants in Vapor From Electronic Cigarettes<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> found:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c&#8230;The e-cigarette vapors contained some toxic substances. The levels of the toxicants were 9\u2013450 times lower than in cigarette smoke and were, in many cases, comparable with trace amounts found in the reference product\u2026 our findings are consistent with the idea that substituting tobacco cigarettes with e-cigarettes may substantially reduce exposure to selected tobacco-specific toxicants.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>E-cigarettes and vaping really can help smokers kick the habit<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As e-cigarettes and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrictobacconist.co.uk\/e-liquid-c9\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e-liquids<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> grow as a sector, more mainstream news sources and publications are finally coming around to the idea that there\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/articles\/2014-05-21\/some-good-news-for-the-e-cig-industry-vaping-can-help-smokers-quit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>evidence<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that e-cigarettes&nbsp;<\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.time.com\/3103691\/e-cigs-are-smokers-favorite-quitting-tool\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">may be effective<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in helping smokers kick the habit. As reported earlier this year in an article published earlier this year in our blog entitled, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stuff.co.nz\/stuff-nation\/assignments\/smoking-how-did-you-give-up\/17870412\/Vaping-saved-my-life\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Vaping Saved My Life<\/strong><\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, groundbreaking research out of UCL demonstrates that&nbsp;<\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/tto\/health\/news\/article4702730.ece\">20,000 smokers traded their cigarettes for e-cigarettes<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the UK in 2015. In total, the Office for National Statistics has found that 863,000 current vapers are ex-smokers. &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As smoking takes <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/tobacco\/data_statistics\/fact_sheets\/health_effects\/tobacco_related_mortality\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>ten years off the average smoker\u2019s lifespan<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, this transition from smoking to e-cigarettes is an incredibly positive change and one that should be celebrated. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong><i>Feeling excited about the benefits of e-cigarettes?
