Sub Ohm Vaping

Most vapers don’t begin with sub ohm kits but in time many move onto this style of kit, because of the benefits that come with sub ohm vaping. It isn’t for everyone but it is very popular and below we’re looking more closely at exactly what sub ohm vaping is, why it’s so popular and how to do it. But first, let’s have a look at ohms themselves.

What is an Ohm?

An ohm is simply a unit of measurement, specifically a unit of measurement of resistance. The lower the resistance of an atomiser, the more electricity can flow through it and with resistances lower than 1 ohm, a device is considered sub ohm. There are a huge range of sub ohm mods and sub ohm kits on the market, for vapers of all experiences.

What is Sub Ohm Vaping?

Sub ohm kits are those that can effectively fire under 1 ohm of resistance and this usually sees some serious clouds. Cloud chasers wouldn’t exist without sub ohm vaping. It isn’t for everyone but has become much more popular and there are many reasons why.

Why Sub Ohm?

There are many reasons you may choose to give sub ohm vaping a go and but below are the top three reasons:

· More intense flavour: one you opt for a sub ohm tank which uses organic cotton wicking as most premium options do, then you won’t be keen to step back to any other alternative as you’ll experience even more intensity and enjoyment from your favourite e-liquids.

· Huge clouds: the number one reason that sub ohm vaping became popular is its vapour production. You can blow bigger clouds and enjoy a whole new vaping experience.

· Warmer vapour: the higher wattage that comes with sub ohm mods and kits and this is something which particularly suits those who miss the sensation that comes with traditional smoking.

How do you Sub Ohm Vape?

There are several types of kit involved in sub ohm vaping. There are three main ways vapers sub ohm:

- With an RDA

RDAs or rebuildable dripping atomisers or drippers were the first pieces of kit designed for sub ohm vaping. Smaller than mechanical kits or box mods, RDAs usually incorporate a deck which the coils are built onto and attached using a screwdriver and wicked with cotton. Vapers simply have to drip a small amount of juice onto the coils and wick to enjoy the intensity of their chosen e-liquid.

- With an RTA

RTAs or rebuildable tank atomisers are designed for vapers who want to build coils but don’t want to trip. They are a modernised kind of clearomizer but rather than being fitted with coils, the vaper builds this part. This allows for creative freedom in putting together the perfect coil for your chosen vape. Not all RTAs are designed for sub ohm vaping but there are sub ohm kits on the market.

With a Sub Ohm Tank

Sub ohm tanks are very similar to RTAs except the coils used are pre-made and disposable. This option is popular with newcomers sub ohm vaping who want to enjoy the new vaping experience but aren’t interesting in building or modding their own kit. Sub ohm tanks have made this kind of vaping more accessible, especially thanks to developments by Kanger and the Aspire Atlantis.
